Nicolas Paul Wiesner is Here!
Okay, a lot of people have asked me to post my labor story and want to know how it all went down, so here is a brief recap. So, on Tuesday, September 4, we went in for a routine baby doctor check up. After examining me and doing an ultrasound, the doctor determined that I was low on my amniotic fluid and that I needed to be induced. Jeff's reaction was very different to mine. He looked at me with a big smile and said, "We get to meet our son by tomorrow!" I looked at him with panic on my face and said, "I'm not ready yet. I wanted to labor at home! I didn't want to be induced!" So we went home and gathered our bags and headed to the hospital. They checked me in and started my IV. They told me that plan was that they would give me a pill that would soften my cervix and start contractions. Then 2 hours later, they would give me a second pill. After another 2 hours, they would start the Pitossin (sp?). Well, let's just say that my body really took to the first pill and after less than half an hour, I was having contractions back to back. I never made it to the 2nd pill or Pitossin. They wouldn't let me walk them off, but I had to lay flat on my back in bed because the baby's heart rate kept dropping every time I had a contraction. I was going to try and hold off on the pain meds, but after 4 hours straight of contractions, I opted for some sleepy time medicine that went in my IV and was able to sleep for a couple of hours. After I woke up, I had dilated enough to get an epidural. I accepted :) After I guess what was another hour, I had completely dilated and soon after that, Nicolas was here! That is my story in a nutshell. It was a long, hard labor of 12 hours, but it was worth it when we saw him! He has been such a blessing to us. We hope you enjoy the pics!
