Sermon: "What Is Christ Doing Now?"

Can man have full assurance of faith, beyond the shadow of doubt? If so, why do we so often struggle with doubt? Where is our assurance found?

All semester, Collegelife has been walking through the "Mission of Christ in History". This week, our topic is "What Is Christ Doing Now?" Jeff took the opportunity to speak on Christ, our High Priest from Hebrews 10:19-25. The Title of the Sermon is "Christ our High Priest: The Assurance of Faith Beyond the Shadow of Doubt".

Here is the main idea of the message:

Through his atoning death on the cross, and His intercession as High Priest, Jesus Christ has opened a new and living way that gives all believers continual access to the presence of God forever. Therefore, we are to "draw near" to God with assurance of faith, "hold fast" our hope without wavering, and "consider...one another" through our assembling together.

Sermon: "The Cross"

Jeff preached his first message this past Tuesday night at AXCESS, where College Life have been spending the semester looking at "The Mission of Christ in History".

Jeff's topic is "The Cross". Here are the sermon footnotes:
  1. Man has a dilemma: HIS SIN HAS SEPARATED HIM FROM GOD.
  2. God has a bigger dilemma: HIS HOLY LOVE WILL NOT ALLOW HIM TO OVERLOOK SIN, SINCE HE CANNOT ACT CONTRARY TO HIS CHARACTER.
  3. The Solution: GOD MUST SATISFY HIS HOLY WRATH BEFORE HE CAN EXTEND HIS LOVING FORGIVENESS. HE ACCOMPLISHES THIS BY GIVING HIMSELF, IN JESUS CHRIST, AS A PENAL SUBSTITUTE FOR OUR SIN.
You can listen to the entire message here. You may also listen to the prior messages at www.collegelife.org, under the "Media" tab.

Since preaching is a community project and not just an individual endeavor, we welcome any and all comments or questions concerning the content of the message.

FYI: In the introduction of the sermon, I unintentionally apply general results of "scourging", including the breaking of bones, to Jesus. We know this to not be true is Jesus' case (Psalm 34:20; John 19:31-33). Sorry for any confusion.
